it is his 27th birthday today. if i am there with him in Brunei, these will usually happen:
doing (crazy) things like this.
well, not every year like this. this was on his 24th birthday
will be adoring him

him, being all that~

him, singing with some bad tune 'purposely'

celebrating the day with him.

along with some events i planned way ahead for this very day. i don't have to mention how beautiful it might've been, i guess pictures speak louder than words. i love you very much abang, have a pleasant birthday.

this week, HMES 2270 touched on sport injury.
stress is one of the major causes of sport injuries. stress can result from anxiety prior to competition; it can arise from the pressure to perform optimally during the game and it can also arise from issues within athletes. it leads to muscle tension, coordination interference which then causes distraction and cognitive appraisal (perception of threat). so, when athletes are under stress, they are prone to get mildly or severely injured.
i actually experienced all of these today.
i was stress due to personal reasons. i have not been communicating with Arifin for a while, i understand he is busy over there and i don't blame him, so i was trying to be stronger and more positive day by day but today, i couldn't lift myself up. when i cycled to uni, a huge human traffic like always. usually i could maneuver between these obstacles. but today, when i was cycling with my usual speed, i felt off my bike. my left knee was bleeding and i have swimming class in 10 minutes. here, my stress level was narrowing my visual perception.
when i arrived at the swimming pool, i didn't perform well. my muscles started to tense up and my techniques were terribly disrupted. immediately after that class, i had one hour lecture. i was experiencing an increased distractibility; my hearing sense was blocked and concentration slowly deteriorated.
after lunch i had two more hours of lecture. i survived but my muscles started to ache. i forgot to take pre and post sport-related supplements. i was so distracted that i skipped it, as a result my body aches.
despite all the misfortune, i am amazed to physically and physiologically experience the power of stress.

i went to the Post Office today to send off my specs-claiming documents to Brunei High Commission in Canberra. the envelope costs me $3+ since they're important documents (original receipt and original Doctor's Recommendation). when i was writing the postal address on the expensive envelope, i put my purse on top of the writing desk. my mind was concentrating so much on writing the correct address. i submited the envelop to the counter. immediately after, i went to the supermaket, IGA which is just next door. when i was wanting to check the codes for "halal" ingredients, i was like "SHIT!!!! MY PURSE!!!!".
i dashed to the post office again. IT WASN'T ON THE DESK!!!! my heart pumped vigorously, with seconds to explode. the queue to the counter was long. my screwed up mind forced me to cut the line. i asked the counter with this "5 cent" look. she was smiling.. she was saying about this random guy who found it, but all i could hear was the movement of my purse (could hear the sound???) my heart just.... baaaaaaahhhhh... i don't know how to describe anymore. alhamdulillah... dahriah dahriah.. please don't do it again

the rain was POURING like there is no tomorrow. my swim date with Haida at 3pm was cancelled. around 4.30pm the rain started to slow down. i planned to go to Subiaco since morning and thought of cancelling it as well but i don't want to go tomorrow either because the busses on weekends are available every half hours or even one hour. so finally made up my mind on going
my supplements are almost finish, so i went to NuSkin

swam with Haida, Singaporean Malay friend of mine who is taking the same course as me. YO HAIDA!! we did pretty good job!! 2 hours of swimming (11am and 3pm). love it. and we thurst for MORE!! swimming everyday SHALL WE??
today i conquered my fear! i swam in 1.8m pool. my mind told me that was a reeeeaaaaly deep pool due to my first horrible experience last semester.
so today, i tried to get to know this 1.8m pool. i tried to make friend with it. it was quite friendly. my mind was relaxed and my insecurity vanished. gosh! i am so proud that i managed to swim the whole length freestyle no problem. fear no more! i got extremly excited, so decided to swim again tomorrow. feels sooooo good!!!
owh yea, from HMES 2270, i have something to share. James, our lecturer was talking on how to improve mood when exercising. so listed below are some of the suggested ways that has been proved through various studies:
rhythmical abdominal breathing
relative absence of interpersonal competition
closed and predictable activites
rhythmical and repetitive movement
> 20 minutes in duration, moderate intensity, 2-3 times per week
enjoyable
so, all of us in the lecture theatre were trying to apply these suggestions to our day to day activities. all of us were paying so much attention and level of seriousness was high; so there were distinct silence for few minutes.
then our lecturer broke the silence by saying "i know you guys think that sex fits all of these crateria, although some people might not last for 20 minutes and doing it for 2-3 times a week" ALL OF US WERE LAUGHING!!!! totally didn't see that coming. that was definitely didn't pass my mind!! hahaha.. then, we read through the list again... from one to six. then we laugh some more!!!!! HAHAHAHA..."rhythmical abdominal breathing" "repetitive movement" "enjoyable" owh my gosh!!!

i jogged today and it ain't a good discovery. i was out of breath after 3 minutes!! 3 MINUTES.. that is only 180seconds!!! my oh my~~ i kinda expected my stamina would dropped, but not this low~ hahaha..
before i decided to continue my studies as an undergraduate, i was thinking of joining the army. i trained for 3 months and my best time was 5mins in one Km. that was NOT BAD!!! pretty good infact. and i could do 4 to 5 Km in one day. *sigh* it was hard to push up the stamina but it surely drops fast once you discontinue training eventhough in just 2months.
my mind whispered, am i fit??.. then, all the knowledge i've studied flew into my brain. i've been doing exercise that are strength and endurance based; like weight lifting and swimming. i've been neglecting cardio exercise for a while now. so, as all coach might do to their students; start from basic. be systematic. start from basic and gradually increase the intensity.
i must get my stamina back. i remembered when i was in secondary school, SMJA. people always wondered why i smiled all the time. then, i thought it was because i jogged almost everyday. my mind was tension free and endophine (jogger's high) kicked in. i missed the "happy go lucky" side of me. i won lots of running event; sports day, jogathon, climbathon, just name it. Dahriah would be there, grabbing the 1st place medal. missed those glory times. my juniors from SMJA even called me MARTINA HINGGIS!! gosh. Martina Hinggis was a legendary tennis player few years back. i adore her still. knowing people gave me that nick name, it was a time of my life that i'l always remember.
i study sports, somehow i don't do much sport as i used to because doing the theory and reading about it took alot of my time.
ok, less talking more action Dahriah!!!! YO STAMINA, i'l get u back!!!
p/s pass few days were pretty hectic, will update soon.

went to Harbour Town. yuph Adidas factory outlet is still there!! haha.. so went in there. were tempted to buy some tops. but nahhh... have lots of 'em already. then, i saw this bag
it cost $25!!! yea!!! so without hesitation i bought it. it is cool for going to gym and swim class.. SWEEEEETT!!! then i bought a pair of socks for $2
at night i feel sooooo cold.. my normal sport socks didn't help at all. as i tried these on.. GOSH.. warm indeed. it is soft too!!! how soft?.. hm... how to describe.. Syam! remember the pillow i bought you for your birthday?.. it feels like that.. hehe.. for other people out there, just imagine it is reaaaaaallly soft and slippery.. the third item i bought is just a singlet for about $13. so, i didn't spend much today.. fiuh~~ lots of nice things i saw, but i put my foot down. no more buying unessassary things dahriah~
i saw one formal top that would be perfect for my boyfriend.. but sadly they only have size XS!!!... *sigh* i'll find it eventually..

i locked myself out just now.. why???.. i took my smart rider card out with me instead of the room card..
room card
this is actually the second time i took out the wrong card..*sigh* this is what happen when everything is replaced into cards~~ we tend to mess it up at some point. i had to call the tutor on duty to unlock my room and she laughed at me when i told her what happened teehee..
Dariah; 10:23 PM
i had an interview today.
this was what i wear. i didn't want to overdress because it is a "cook's assitant" position, not office work.
this is the place
(notice the blinking red light? "vacancy" hehe that is why i went there)

the interview went very well. Martin told me other positions available there like house keeping and room servicing. i told him that house keeping is actually the job that i am looking for. he was pleased to know because he was concern whether i can cope with the busy kitchen work or not since i have no experience at all on it. so Martin will inform me next week to comfirm whether i get the job or not and follow up any details.
oooooo... yesterday!!! on my way to switch buses at Busport, there was this man got stuck here!!! in the circled area!!!
a man, at his 50's was laying faced-down stucked at the end of the escalator, so happened that his long sleeves got pulled into the escalator (the escalator was going downwards). i didn't know how it happened but i was pretty sure he was bleeding. if i was not mistaken, something felt off his hands and tried to pick it up from the escalator stairs. a young guy passed by switched off the power and pulled the poor man out. i don't know what happen to that guy after that, i was catching a bus.
ok ok back to today's agenda. on my way home, something caught my eye.

out side the taxi there were stripes of red with blue background.

there were three pictures i tried to make sense out of; from the right, a man cycling, a kangaroo and the third one i couldn't figure it out. it is a picture of a lady blowing something with widespread legs! hehehee.. what is that picture trying to convey? suggestion anyone??
owh yea, remember when i told you that i had to take two buses to get to Rivervale? i realised that the second bus that took me to Rivervale has this unusual (well, it is for me) bell to indicate the driver where we want to stop
the bell is actually a long black stripe
the first bus that took me to the busport is this
most of these buses that go there are brand new, so their bells look like usual (ones circled in red) p/s click to actually see the bells.
noticed there is a small box circled in green. that is actually a card reader. we ride the bus with a card named "smart rider" we don't pay cash to get into the bus anymore. just buy the card and top it up whenever the balance is low. we just swipe the card when we get into the bus and swipe it off again when we get off
smart rider
lastly, i just had to introduce you people out there to this yummy bread. it is called 'tiger bread'... we usually get this during lunchtime. it is not a set lunch meal, it is a side meal that is always provided.

missed ANHB 2 lecture today (as usual) hehehe. went to extra swimming class at 11am, I CAN SWIM SIDE STROKE NOW BABY~~ but still need alot of practice. OH.MY.GOD!! 2 weeks just past!!! wait wait wait!!! i have 3 more weeks to practice for the next swimming exam!! *sigh* more serious practice for sure starting next week.
had two hours of lecture, HM 240 and HM 270. was abit lost in HM 240 (probably because of his Australian accent) but still loving 270. our lecturer is from UK, has british accent. so clear and enjoyable to listen to.
immediately after, i went to search for a restaurant/hotel named Flag Motor Lodge in Rivervale. it took me 40 minutes to get there by two buses. ok ok here's the story. i am seeking for a part time job. currently, there are not so many jobs that are available at night and weekends. well, there are but the safe ones are hard to find. so, after searching for quite a while on website,
http://www.seek.com.au/ i finally spotted a vacancy as a cook's assistant. well, at first i hesitate to go for this position. c'mon!! if you know me very well.. you would laugh. i phoned my mom a while ago to tell her about this and she laughed!! heheh...
now where was i, owh yes~ the restaurant. tomorrow at 2pm i will be having an interview with Martin, the assistant manager. well, it is more like a session to get familiar with the place. i phoned Martin earlier this week, so far he's happy with all he's hearing. so that is why i went to search for that place today, and just to know how long it takes for me to get there.
on my way there, i was listening to my ipod shuffle. i listened to lots of songs that mean alot to me. have you ever felt like when you listen to a song and immediately it touches your soul and the vision of the past is playing crystal clear in your mind as you close your eyes? well, i felt that today (well, i experience it sometimes, but today was deep) i tend to think about my wonderful people back in Brunei. but it didn't make me sad.. it just made me happy. happy to have them in my life.
however, i wish i can find my long lost bestfriend from primary school, Hayati. we shared alot of dreams back then... about what type of boyfriend we were looking for, want to look pretty like that girl or this girl, what our ambitions were.. you know, all the (girl) kids talked about. it is nearly a decade now, i haven't heard any news from her. all i know that she is going to get married.. MARRIED!!! gosh! we have alot to catch up. just hope i'll meet her again someday.
