David Cook was labelled as the next Chris Daughtry. i was not a bit fan of his, but after that performance he really does has the potential to win this competitionDavid Archuleta . there wasn't any particular songs that i like from his performances so far. he is pretty consistence with his singing, good all the way through, but not great. also, he has a good down-to-earth personality that could hold him in throughout.Michael Johns . the best performance he ever did was when he sang "bohemian rhapsody (queen)" "... mama~~~~~ uwuuuuuu~~~" hahaha~Jason Castro . he is funny. the way he talks and the way he handles interviews were just nice-on-the-eyes eventhough sometimes i don't understand what he was talking about. i like when he sang "daydream"Chikezie . nice voice. abit boring at times. i only remember him singing "i love you more today than yesterday" well~ i remembered this song because Arifin sang it to me after we watched that show.Carly Smithson . i used to call her The Tatoo Girl. adore her when she sang "shadow of your smile"Ramiele Malubai . the only asian girl. small body big voice. i can't really remember any particular songs that she sang.Brooke White . she is adorable. she is a happy happy girl. she even sang "happy together" song. gosh~ i love her singing that song. makes me happy too.Amanda Overmyer . known as the hot nurse. she has a rock'n'roll voice. and that is about it. i've watched the most recent one, last week. again David Cook overshined the rest. Brooke White improved from last week. the rest, like Simon used to say - forgetable.sister, Dahariani updates my sister, dahariani always keeps me update through skype about what was going on in Brunei. OH.MY.GOSH. my sis always update me with Gol&Gincu Series 2. why she does that? she likes me to go crazy wondering what will happen next. she is a pro in that. then she texted me about pre-wedding night events at my tangah' s house. there were fast-eating-satay competition, lucky draw, kids racing, and lots more fun stuff. also she was the one who told me about my dad's suprise birthday party. she sent me quite a few pictures too. so, she is just being an awesome sister right now. on top of that she regularly talked about all the yummy food my family and herself indulged while i was gone. nyeh!!! SUCH A TEASER!!! not to forget, she said "don't forget to eat alot there to keep healthy" when she said healthy she meant "sihat lemak bercream " nyeh!!

the equipments needed for this lab are: audible Blood Pressure device. Stethoscopes. Sphygmomanometers (just call sphyg). Electrocardiograph (ECG) machines. ECG leads and red dots as i was reading the procedures in the lab manual for this lab. the first page i was abit lost. even lost when i read this line "arterial blood pressures can be measured most accurately through the use of a rapidly responding pressure tranducer connected on one side to an intra-arterial catheter..." so i googled the words "intra-arterial catheter". and this popped out. WE.ARE.GOING.TO.DO.WHAT??????? as i read on, we are not going to do that method to measure blood pressure. we will be practicing the auscultatory (the usual) technique using the stethoscopes and sphyg. fiuh!!! that was a relief!!!
we also get to measure heart rate using ECG. luckily the guys are going to be the subjects for this experiment. it involves putting red dots stickers and leads to 3 parts - along sternum bone, underneath left chest and left armpit. then connect the other end of the leads to ECG machine. IMAGINE! it was definitely ackward
exercise physiology (HMES 2260) labs are very hands on and makes me understand more indepth of what i've learn in lectures. just beautiful this unit.

i just had the best 5 hours of sleep. when i woke up this morning *BAM* my eyes were wide open. it was 7.10am. it was kind of weird because i usually fall asleep moments after. but not today. i had one 3 hours physiology (PHYL 2255) lab today at 10am. we did blood group test. I.LOVED.IT. other then my partner, Renuka kept on poking me with the needle, it was good fun. another reason why i was enjoying this lab was because i was really prepared for it. i did the prelab; read up what i should know before hand, what to expect, all that stuff. and i was really in control. my partner was having a hard time collecting her own blood out. she has the coldest set of hands. i asked her to do some walking to have her blood circulation going, but it was still hard for her to even get a decent 5 drops of blood. well my mind said, 'hey Dahriah, you did all you could to help her, you just do what you need to do, collect some data in order for you to write a report for this lab" so, i did and finished the lab half an hour early. it was the greatest feeling ever~ i was so focus. alhamdulillah. when i came home for lunch, i checked out Adam's blog - my former English tuition teacher Santi's son. i texted her over the phone. she used a word that i wasn't familiar with. so i replied "you know teacher, i'm kind of shy to ask you what 'limelight' means because you were my ex-english teacher and all, so i used the internet dictionary to find what it means" hahahaa~ it was nice to have a quick chat with her just now. later today before dinner, i went to the gym. today is just beautiful. good sleep, good morning, good workout, good lab. my concentration level is at its max. (singing)"What a feeling~" hehehe. i'm definitely going to workout everyday no matter what. because i'm loving what i feel..

i officially didn't go to the gym over a week now due to my lack-of-sleep syndrome. my free times were for naps. i only played tennis on Tuesday (low intensity), Wednesday (tennis class, moderate intensity) and swimming (high intensity) on Thursday. from the datas i gathered last year in my Health and Fitness unit, my study performance dropped significantly if i only exercise twice a week. my performance was at best when i worked out at least 5 times a week. that explained why i was not driven to study all week; laziness that i couldn't overcome. from scientific report, doing exercise does energize the body, minds become more focused, alert and of course have a good health. so, i really have to have a consistence amount of workout throughout the week. but before i do that, i really have to solve my sleeping-cycle .... lesson learnt... [continued] without further delay, i played tennis with Maya here in St Cats. we played for 45minutes. amazingly, it felt like a warm-up. i hope i sleep well tonight.

HAPPY 68th BIRTHDAY HJ ABD MANAF/HJ MUNAP
yes, it is my dad's birthday today. how i wish i could go home and celebrate his birthday today with the rest of my family.
i've chatted with my sister Dahariani at Skype today. she said they've plan a huge suprise for dad at home in the living room after Isya prayer. they blown hundreds of balloon, booked catering, cakes and lots more. my siblings told dad that tonight they are celebrating Dahlia's baby girl, Danisha - maybe it is like thanks giving (doa selamat) or somewhat. so my dad believed them.
when everybody arrived and moments before my dad entered the living room, my siblings put up the 'happy birthday' banner up. gosh everything sounded so exciting
then. SUPRISE!!!!!
HAHAHA my dad was really really suprised. he must had the biggest smile on his face.
around 9pm i phoned dad to greet Happy Birthday. he was laughing all the way through the conversation. gosh. i am so happy for you dad.
eventhough we don't talk that much but i know he cares about all twelve of us. he prayed for us. i know he prayed for my happiness and success because mom told me. he sacrifices alot just to put a smile on our faces.
over the phone i said to dad "semoga panjang umur, murah rezeki " then dad laughed, "jangantah panjang umur eh~ doakan supaya tetapkan iman saja " i smiled. i always pray for you dad. that is only one part of my prayers for you. i prayed for you to have longlive because i want you to feel the happiness i felt all this years. i want to pamper you as you always pampered me. in order for me to grant that wish i have to finish my degree and have a permanent job. so, wait for me ok dad :)
... dad you are the greatest...
owh yea~ i would also like to say
HAPPY BELATED 26TH BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER DAHARIANI. we fought alot when we were kids, but hey~ i do love you sis :p

there was a Bike Auction going on at St Cats. the bid starts from $5. crazy?? i think so toowell, there is a reason on why the bid starts as low as $5. those bikes are old, abandoned in college's shed. so, those bikes need servicing, new tires (maybe), new bell, new bike stand, new lock; the to-do-list never seemed end. so of the residents bidded it and some planned to buy new bikes instead. i don't know who won though. owh well, it was just interesing; bid a bike for $5. that is why i posted it.. haha~

music has always been close to my heart; a good friend of mine. it raises me up when i feel down, when i lost the faith in me eversince i was a child and years before Arifin found me. this clip of John Legend somehow inspired me in everyway; want to give my all in what i believe in, to do things flawlessly and show to people my passion and get acknowledge. John Legend in this clip, he played the keyboard beautifully and sang amazingly at the same time. that profession inspired me.

15/03/08 during the meeting with Pg Ayup last night, he mentioned about futsal turney which was held today at Lord Sport Club, Subiaco. i felt pressured abit because Pg Ayup knows i am studying Sport Science, so i came today. i didn't participate though because i have sore muscle all around and if i push myself further today my body will be prone to injury [speaking from a future coach perspective ;) ] so i just support the teams namely, KFC- kulimambang FC, cewek and whites from Brunei. there was one other team from malaysia but i forgot it's name. also, there were 6 men teams playing today from Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. ilah (KFC - player), Aminah, Dahriah, Umi the game fighting to get the ball~ teammates bumped into each othersome dashed like a wind, others just enjoy the ride
while watching the game, next to me was this kid - so hilarious. taking pictures
with class~ KFC
my brother, Dahari one's said to me when i practiced my football skills "you are kicking like a girl".. i was like "i am a girl bro~~" hahahahaa. i still do kick like a girl :p
kicking-like-a-girl examples. Whites Vs Cewek
out of balance. ouch
the girls are actually not bad since this was their first exposure. i am sure with proper training they will be better off.
by the way, the event started around 11am. by 2.30pm i called it a day. did i tell you that i only slept for 2 and a half hours for today? well, i just just did. so i went home with Aminah. Aminah stayed on Campus as well but different college. she stayed in Trinity College which is just next to my college, St Catherine's
on the way, we grabbed a bite
Aminah, Dahriah

tonight we got the opportunity to meet up with the Brunei High Commission respresentative, Student Attache, Pg Ayup. it was held at Insan, Indonesian Restaurant. this event was organised mainly for Pg Ayup to get to know the Scholars studying in Perth. Pg Ayup's office is actually in Canberra so he came to Perth for an informal visit. he chatted with all of us, asking just about everything: allowance issue, studies, settling down to mention a few. Pg Ayup sponsored our dinner tonight. thanks Cigu~ Nadia Hanim, Dahriah, Ai, Aminah. Ai is one of the most interesting Bruneian to talk to. she is doing a Diploma in Design. we chatted the whole meeting time about fashion, design and beauty. she is passionate about design as i am in exercise. so we are somewhat sharing the same hopes and dreams. group photo: Pg Ayup is the one in light Blue top. as you can see not many scholars studying in Perth. well, the private students outnumber the scholars but the population is still relatively small compared to UK students.
all in all, it was a good-get-together event. thanks to our seniors for organising this event.

this is one of the biggest events of the year at St Catherine's College. dress-code was hawaiian/formal/semi-formal. few hightlights for this event were; welcoming freshers, college scholarship awards and best academic awards.
while waiting, took pictures of course~
Shelley, Dahriah
Shelley, Amy, Dahriah, Nyarai, Swaty
other residents
the entrance
the settings
appetizer
our table - same faces. haha
Dahriah, Kellie (she was late), Nyarai
just across - the blondes' table. funny
future doctors
asians
group photo
Kellie (practiced Doctor), Annette (excellent sportwoman)
another hightlight of this event was the food. supposingly it should have the best main courses but unfortunately they were not as amazing as last year's. last year's was amazing: the setting was outdoor, over the top fantastic, the theme was mid-summer dreams, it was professional and properly organised. i was thankful to experience that. maybe it just depends on the organiser. every year they change the college president and house commitee. indeed last year's people were genius. but hey~ i appreciate their afford to organise this big event.

from past experience, i never like or enjoy Human Movement labs; the lab coordinators like to rush through the tasks, my collegues mind their own business, unfriendly vibe going on within the lab, etc. SO TODAY. I SUPER DUPER LOVE IT. Karen is my Exercise Physiology (Human Movement 2260) lecturer, and she was my lab coordinator. oh my gosh. i was thankful to have her. she is the most exciting person i ever met. she is so enthusiastic, so driven, so full of life and so much fun to have around. it is kind of rare to see these qualities in a lecturer/lab coordinator. well, does being active in sport be one of the explanations for the existence of those qualities? maybe? interesting~ so today's lab all of us are the subjects to the experiment. we tested our respiratory volume which indicated how healthy our lungs are; to see whether subjects have breathing problem like asthma. then, the second experiment was to check our iron level. how you may ask?? BLOOD SAMPLING. i definitely didn't want to stick a needle on my fingertip and neither do the rest. Karen was aware of this. she though stress out about the importance of future exercise physiologist to be able to do blood sampling to their subjects. for this first blood sampling, she did it for us. so, the next few labs she wants us to give it a try. so the needle used was a clicked-needle, where you just pressed at one end and the needle just spring out and in again. it wasn't that bad afterall. the results were, i have a pretty healthy pair of lungs and my iron level is normal. gosh, this unit is getting more and more exciting. i learn more and more about myself

was SO tempted to take a picture of the dead toad. today, i had physiology lab. we got to disect a dead Cane Toad. apparently the heart still beats. so basically today's experiment was to see the different effects of drugs to the heart rate. when i saw the toad, i went pale. in this lab students work in pairs; so one disect the toad and the other record the heart rate with computerized equipment. don't have to guess which task i volunteered to do. my partner was Raihana. she was a pro!!! she disected the toad like NOTHING. well, she took units that involved alot of disecting animal parts so it was no problem for her. so yeah, the toad's heart still beats. somehow if the heart is kept diluted with special reagent, it will continue beating. today, we expose the heart to all kinds of drugs. the ones that could increase the heart rate as well as the ones that decreases it. i thought Raihana had a tough task with the toad. i.was.wrong. the heart rate was translated to the computer and it was really hard to make sense of the recorded output. the device was new to me and when i asked my lab coordinator she wasn't a pro either. my brain nerves were narrowing with blood rushing through when i found out about that. luckily there was another lab coordinator. so towards the end, i got the hang of it. oh yeah, did i tell you that i was a 3 hours lab. so yeah, Raihana and i spent every second of it. hahaha. it was all good fun.
