from past experience, i never like or enjoy Human Movement labs; the lab coordinators like to rush through the tasks, my collegues mind their own business, unfriendly vibe going on within the lab, etc. SO TODAY. I SUPER DUPER LOVE IT.
Karen is my Exercise Physiology (Human Movement 2260) lecturer, and she was my lab coordinator. oh my gosh. i was thankful to have her. she is the most exciting person i ever met. she is so enthusiastic, so driven, so full of life and so much fun to have around. it is kind of rare to see these qualities in a lecturer/lab coordinator. well, does being active in sport be one of the explanations for the existence of those qualities? maybe? interesting~
so today's lab all of us are the subjects to the experiment. we tested our respiratory volume which indicated how healthy our lungs are; to see whether subjects have breathing problem like asthma. then, the second experiment was to check our iron level. how you may ask?? BLOOD SAMPLING. i definitely didn't want to stick a needle on my fingertip and neither do the rest. Karen was aware of this. she though stress out about the importance of future exercise physiologist to be able to do blood sampling to their subjects. for this first blood sampling, she did it for us. so, the next few labs she wants us to give it a try.
so the needle used was a clicked-needle, where you just pressed at one end and the needle just spring out and in again. it wasn't that bad afterall.

the results were, i have a pretty healthy pair of lungs and my iron level is normal. gosh, this unit is getting more and more exciting. i learn more and more about myself
